Founded as a silk mill by Emmanuel Van Raalte in 1913, Van Raalte initially produced silk veiling during the years of 'the hat' - then a staple for any woman of distinction's wardrobe. Throughout the following decades, a hat topped both daywear and evening ensembles - and a hat with a bit of veiling lent an enchanting effect.
